The idea for WriteSearch came about as my searches for writing related information returned an abundance of helpful resource sites. As my growing list of bookmarks quickly became unmanageable, I began searching for the one elusive writing related website that might just have it all.
When I couldn’t find one specific site that included links, news, events, and information that covered many different writing related areas, I aspired to create it. I decided to go the search engine route and launched WriteSearch in 2004 as a search engine exclusively for writers.
It began as an extensive collection of feeds from different sources with limited control over the quality of the results, but it was still the first incarnation of a functional writers search engine. In an effort to improve the results, the engine that runs the WriteSearch database changed in 2008.
This drastic change meant starting over completely, but the transformation will hopefully translate into WriteSearch one day becoming the greatest collection of writer’s resources on the internet. If you’d like to suggest a site for inclusion at WriteSearch, please feel free to use our Submit a Site form to tell us about it.
